Donation Celebrates 60 Years of Jacksonville Service
JACKSONVILLE, FL — Big Chief Tire, a family-owned network of Jacksonville tire and car repair shops, today completed its first annual Back-to-School Supply Drive in partnership with Duval County Public Schools. The donation celebrates the company’s sixtieth anniversary of local service by supporting schools in the Jacksonville community. Plans for future supply drives are already underway.
“Big Chief Tire has been dedicated to giving back to the community since our first store opened in 1961. As Jacksonville locals, it has always been a priority to support the businesses and schools that mean the world to us,” said Fritz Parman, Big Chief Tire president.
Donations were sent to James Welden Johnson and Fishweir Elementary. The supplies were collected on behalf of the schools by Brandon Mack, director of partnerships and community outreach for Duval County Public Schools. Supplies included pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks and coloring supplies.
The idea for the supply drive began with Kelsey Roth-Parman, Big Chief Tire manager and Fritz Parman’s daughter. She is one of the four generations of Parmans to help run Big Chief in Jacksonville since the 1960s.
“For our sixtieth anniversary, we wanted to give back to the schools, the teachers, and the administrators that our children and family members attend and love,” said Roth-Parman. “In the future, we plan to continue fundraising for our schools, and hope to foster an ongoing relationship with the Duval County Public School system.”
The donations were funded by Big Chief Tire employees and customers. Supply donors received five percent off their total service charge, up to a sixty dollar value. Supplies were collected at the Westside, Blanding, Southside and Northside Big Chief locations.
