Big Chief Tire has provided quality automotive services to the Jacksonville, Florida area since 1961. It all started when Chief Parman, Navy officer, opened our first location off of Normandy Boulevard on August 19, 1961.
We started growing just two years later in 1963 when we opened two new stores near the NAS Jax Base—one off of Mayport Road and the other off Roosevelt Avenue. After five years of business, the Roosevelt location relocated to Blanding Boulevard, where it still services vehicles today. The expansion didn’t stop there. In 1972, our “small” business opened another store off of Philips Highway, followed two years later by our Lem Turner Boulevard location. Both stores are still thriving to this day.
Over the next 20 years, big-box car repair shops started popping up all over Jacksonville, threatening our business. Fortunately, our honest customer service set us apart from the rest and kept our doors open. We still managed to open two more locations through the challenges: one in Arlington (1991) and the other in Stark (1994). By this time, we were proud to have seven active locations open to serve the Jacksonville community.
With time comes change. Family members pass on, and responsibilities shift from person to person. By 2010, the Mayport, Stark, and Arlington locations closed their doors, but our team didn’t lose its optimistic spirit. Our teams consolidated and got even closer while making more time to take care of our families, which is what we want for our customers, too.
As a small, local, family-owned business, we always put our customers first. We understand that automotive services can be unexpected, so we’re respectful of our customers’ budgets. That’s why we’ll never recommend a repair that you don’t need.

We currently have six locations throughout the Jacksonville area, and all of the locations have the same convenient service hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
