No one exemplifies that commitment better than Orange Park Manager Chris Permenter, but everyone in Orange Park knows him best as “Red.” He has been part of the Orange Park (formerly All-Starz) team for over ten years.
With a strong background in the automotive industry and a passion for providing exceptional service, Red brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Big Chief Tire family. We sat down with Red to learn more about his background, why he loves working for Big Chief, and his goals for the future.
A Passion Passed Down Through Generations
With a lifelong passion for cars, Red has spent over 20 years honing his skills in the auto industry. His expertise lies in suspensions, lifts, and the aftermarket world. He worked his way up the ranks from mechanic to manager at All-Starz Automotive, which recently joined the Big Chief Tire family.
His connection to the automotive world runs deep, ingrained in his family history. Growing up in Clay County, Red was surrounded by the sights and sounds of cars, thanks to his grandfather’s involvement in dirt track racing.
Alongside his father and uncle, Red learned the ins and outs of building race cars, fueling his love for all things automotive from a young age. “My grandfather raced dirt track cars, and we would build the cars and engines together,” Red shared. “Both sides of my family have a strong affinity for vehicles. Even my maternal grandfather worked as a mechanic in the air force and national guard.”

Throughout his career, Red has always valued working for local, family-owned shops. He loved working for All-Starz for so many years, and why working at Big Chief has brought him a renewed sense of excitement and happiness.

Red loves to support his Orange Park customers and looks forward to giving them the same attention to detail and personal touch they’ve come to value, all while supporting his team members. “There are so many other managers across the Big Chief network I can rely on,” he explained. “I look forward to coaching my team, providing leadership, and ensuring that everything is done the right way. It’s been a joyful experience to have this support.”
A Bright Future With Big Chief
Despite not knowing what to expect initially, Red felt part of the Big Chief family immediately after stepping into his new role. While he enjoys getting his hands dirty and helping with anything from tire installations to turning the wrench, he appreciates the opportunity to guide and mentor his colleagues.
Looking ahead, Red is enthusiastic about future possibilities with Big Chief Tire. He is dedicated to supporting the company’s growth and working alongside co-owners Kelsey Roth, Reed Parman, and the rest of the Big Chief team to help realize their shared goals.
He believes that with his strong experience, he can contribute valuable information to the team and ensure everyone continues to improve and excel. “You’re only as strong as your weakest link,” he said. “Wherever the weakest link is on any given day is where I am going to fill in and ensure things are being done right.”
